Finance Manager (TOC/QBE), SEA LIFE centre Porto
As part of the hugely successful and growing Merlin Entertainments Group, the Porto SEA LIFE centre will be the world’s newest and most fantastic marine visitor attraction! Opening in June 2009, we need an experienced Financial Manager to assist us with the pre-opening work and then manage the attraction’s finances thereafter.
The Role:
Any good accountant can manage the finances of a medium sized business. However we need a very special kind of accountant – one with a customer focus, one who can speak in layman’s terms to other managers and help and guide them through their management accounts. One who wants to work in a fun operational environment!
You’ll be responsible for producing management accounts, and ensuring appropriate financial controls are in place in each of the attraction’s departments. You’ll also have responsibility for the annual statutory accounts, cash control and auditing procedures, all in compliance with Portuguese financial, fiscal and statutory legislation.
The Person:
In addition to having the appropriate qualifications (including TOC status) you will have experience in developing management accounts and a minimum of 5 years experience in a financial capacity, as this is a new attraction you’ll need to be able to implement payroll and accounting systems and procedures. You’ll have experience in establishing and maintaining financial controls over cash, stock, profit & loss and capital expenditure budgets. You will also be goal-focussed and you will be known for using your initiative in difficult situations.
You will be fluent in English and Portuguese language (written/read and spoken) including business and financial terms. You will either live in Porto currently or be prepared to relocate.
